Paul, check the sides of the upper and lower port tubes. You should find two small holes on each side of them. GT's have 3 per side

I just checked my mufflers and they never had holes in the dummy pipes.

I punched 2 holes in each dummy. These are the holes you can see.

I believe mine are the same as yours, no holes from the factory.

Thanks for all you do,
Darryl

So much for my memory! Brother Jim and I have 2012's. His is a GTL and mine is a GT. We noticed right away that they sounded different and started to check out why. Just an inch or so back from the bottom of the dummy ports the GT's have 3 holes on each side. I remember seeing 2 holes on his bike but now (obviously) I don't know if they were in the active or dummy ports but I'm pretty sure his GTL does have the small side holes. Here's a not so good picture that shows the location of the side holes. Definitely need a strong flashlight to see those little buggers.

Looked at mine and they are mostly crimped down to a very small hole, maybe 1/8th inch. But I like the quietness of the current pipes so no mod for me.

Maybe you guys have a case of termites!
I've heard they eat concrete, but didn't know they liked SS.
Muchmore likes this.

Thanks for all you do,
Darryl

Here are the locations of the wholes in the blank (superior & inferior) exhaust ports in my 2016 GTLE. Remember also seeing these holes in my old 2013 GTL exhaust ports. Best,

Doc

Are those tiny holes functional Gary?

They look to me to be too small to make any functional difference even if they do puff smoke.

K1600 Exhaust Ports??

Yep, they emit exhaust. Not allot of exhaust. I actually thought they were drip holes to prevent water build up & rust. Best,

Doc

AHhaa! I knew my hearing wasnt that shot, Ive only road both models 1x each and everyone I told the GT was different and louder didnt believe me. I wonder of you can remove the rivets on the end cap, work the tips and put new rivets back in?
