I just ordered a set of PR4's. I read in this thread that several others have been using this tire for awhile. Looking for some direct observations. Too early for longevity but can anyone support the sales pitch that the PR4 has equal or better handling characteristics to the PR3 ?
Just ordered a set of PR4's from American Motorcycle Tire; they have them in stock at competitive prices and ship to my Italy APO address. Vaughn was great to work with...I switched my order from PR3's to PR4's when I saw AMT had them in stock.
Another + for Revzilla, ordered mine and should be here Friday. I won't mount for a while as I still have some tread left on the stockers and my seat is off to Russell for a rebuild.
41% off. Just ordered my rear last night. Had a unfortunate blowout on my brand new PR3. Hate when a perfectly good, brand new tire is trashed by a piece of glass.
I ordered my PR3s from Revzilla a few weeks too early. But based on the last year I've been replacing tires every 6 months so it won't be long before I'm ready for a new set.
That little tire price comparison I did shows the PR4 to be a good deal.
Whether mark-up to mark-down, or not, Revzilla had a good price on them.
Each spring it seems that there are shortages in the most popular tires. That's why I ordered the set of PR4s to have here waiting for the RS2s to wear out.
just had the PR4 GT tires installed so we shall see how they behave. If the tire is not made by Michelin I don't like it so I'm sure I will like them. @ things of notice. The turn in I normally feel when putting on Michelins is not as fast as previosu tires. Of course those were on much smaller faster bikes. Second, there is no road noise as I experienced with the Metzlers. They were very loud. Since I only have about 20 miles onthe tires I have to take it easy for a few more miles before I get into some serious cornering
Thanks for the response & pic
They look good - easy to see wear bars are a nice add
Going to be interesting to see how that front sipping works and wears
Interesting stickers?
Where the PR3 had a thin flexible feel, these PR4 GTs are certainly like the RS2 tires. I expect the ride and handling to be similar to the RS2, but probably much longer tread life.
Does anyone know if you can safely put on a bigger rear tire. On my Goldwing I used to use a 70 rather than a 60 tire. Doing so adjusted the speedometer to the correct speed. I wonder if this possible/ necessary on the K1600. Best,

I'm known on other MC sites as "the FatSider" meaning I oversize my rear on a lot of my bikes. I guess I just like a fatty back there
To clarify overall width and height. The width on our rear is "190". But it's a mathematical equation of that "other" number called the aspect ratio.
So a 190/50 is not as big (ea way) as a 190/55 even tho both are 190 width. You got the aspect ratio
Losing some on your overall height can worsen your clearance and ride ability on tight turns (twisties). If you can find a 200/55 that you like and can take the weight of the bike (and passengers) it will have enough side clearance, the additional cost however may scare you. ....However! a 200/50 will not give you anything more on width (over a 190/55) even though it has the 200 width number within, the lower aspect number shoots this back down.
Hope this makes sense, it's something that most motorcyclist don't know or understand TBH.
It is possible to run a bigger tire, but you'd be limited by clearance to the single-sided Telelever swing arm.
But why?
The 190/55 is already pretty much the largest "regular" production tire out there so finding a bigger tire would be difficult, and there's no real benefit to doing so.
