New K1600GT Owner from Valrico, FL

Greetings to all! I have finally responded to a 35 year Lust for a BMW. I thought my last bike would be a HD Heritage which I did enjoy, but after a couple of years, the inherent shortcomings started wearing thin. Particularly the lack-lustre performance, poor handling, and lack of modern technology. Most of all, though it initially felt very comfortable, it became uncomfortable after 2-3 hours on the road.
Noteworthy bikes I've owned include a 77 Goldwing (back when they were fun and before they were built in a Buick factory), a 79 Honda CBX (1147cc In-Line Six Cylinder Rocket ship) and what I thought was my dream bike, The 07 HD Heritage. I always loved the BMWs dating back to the old R90, but they were always out of my reach financially. Two friends that own BMWs, an R1200RT and a K16 GT recently got me hot on the trail again. All it took was a test ride. After 5 minutes on the K16GT, the deal was sealed. I have never been so totally pleased with any motorcycle. I now look for places to ride and cannot wipe the Smile off my face!
I have picked a lot of good info off this forum already and look forward to much more, but more than that, I'm look forward to a six digit odometer traveling the country. Riding is fun again. I guess you can only do so many poker runs in a life time.

And when you need service, check out Haps Cycle in Sarasota. Great family run place!

With only a few words, you described just how I feel. This forum has a broad range of experience that has certainly been useful to to many of us that are new to the K1600. Enjoy the ride!
