Replacement for a tank bag / Handlebar bag !

I've been looking, with no success for a small tank bag and came across the following that is made by Wunderlich.

Handlebar Bag All Items For This Bike 1250161 | BMW Wunderlich America

It seems like what I'm looking for and one member of this forum is using a similar one by Tourtech. Has anyone used this bag by Wunderlich? I thought I'd check first before ordering. I just have a few things that I want to carry and this looks like it will work. It's less than $75.00.

Your quest for the perfect tankbag reminds me of my wife's search for the perfect purse.

For her it is the quest more than the goal, or so it seems by the endless purse shopping. Shoes too.

I suspect that your effort would be better spent shopping for Cordura and locating a luggage repair shop. Design and make one on your own. I suspect that there are many other forum members here who would appreciate your final design.

I've found a luggage repair shop here in Dallas that is very reasonable and very good. The cost of the materials is very reasonable too.

It sure would seem like it, but not really!

I had a great tank bag on my K1200LT (our forum sponsor, RKA) and used it all the time. It actually was a tad too big, but it really fit the bike well. I don't need to carry much and I really don't want to reinvent the wheel. Just looking for my perfect one.

Maybe this is the "holy grail"

I think that it would be a fun project. A big piece of floral foam to sculpt into the exact shape you desire. Making a quality bag from that would be easy.

You could even have it made from leather, treated like a saddle to resist weather.

Dan the Touratech will mount easier in the GTL

While NOT a tank bag the Touratech Handle Bar bag does what I need it to do.It is made for a R1200RT but works great on the GTL Plus it is water proof. I rode in heavy rain for over 350 miles last week & everything inside the bag was dry.

I use this bag made for the K16, I don't need a tank bag and this works perfectly holds 'phone, cards, passport and toll tag for european motorways. Phone charges via waterproof cable inlet. If you dont want to carry maps etc works fine detaches and has a belt attachment. Instrument view is not obstructed and it is waterproof we've had enough rain here in the UK to prove that! Ignore the sat nav comment for the K16.

Thanks Steve... It will be either that one or the one by Wunderlich. The Wunderlich has a few nice features and as per their catalog, made to fit the GTL. It looks like it has a few divided compartments and a place for several smaller items.

Tanks Chris...

Dan, I too loved the RKA on my K12 (all 120k miles!). A neighbor bought a new RKA, and I'm tempted. What didn't you like about it?

Thanks,
Paul

For me, and this is strictly me, the smallest RKA stands up too high. If it did not have the expansion capability and just the one lower compartment with the map case, it would be perfect.

Many on this forum like it though and are using it. I just don't need to carry very much and prefer one that stands no more than 5''. I think that one of these handlebar bag will be out of the way and hold the few items I'd like to carry.

Have you asked if they could custom make one? Since they are offering custom colors on a another thread, maybe they have the time to redesign one. (Richard/Bob Listening?) I'd like to try version without the expansion.

CHeers,
Paul
