K1600BGA Stability - Surprising Results

Today I replaced the stock windshield on my '19 Grand America with the windshield that used to be on my GTL.

It is an Aeroflow GTL Hybrid Aeroscreen with the flared top X-tra Tall. It is the largest lexan barn door they sell for the GTL.

I fully expected the much larger shield to make any instability of the BGA worse. But the exact opposite happened. The bike is much less twitchy with the big windshield. I mentioned in a previous post that the bike is also less twitchy 2-up. Today, with the big windshield and 2-up, it was as stable as any Road King or Goldwing.

I think the twichy-ness originates from the top case, and the bigger windshield helps direct the air over it (just my guess).

I don't have any financial incentive to help sell Aeroflow screens, just reporting what I found out.

Maybe that is why I havenít had any stability issues with my BGA. I took delivery of it 3 weeks ago with a 22 inch 7JuRock Bagger shield (they made that size custom for me at no extra charge) and have been on a trip in No Cal since last Monday. Have rode in high winds up here (hence th horrible fire in the last couple of days) on 2 lane roads at extremely high speeds (had speed limiter removed before trip) with enormous trucks loaded with logs coming the opposite direction and zero issues. I had been reading about the instability issues and couldnít figure it out so maybe this has been the reason all along. Currently have about 2800 miles on it and couldnít be happier with the way it has performed including at well over the old speed limiter. Actually seems to me that over 100 mph it almost feels even more locked in but that could be due to roads being in great shap when I am comfortable running that hard but whatever the reason bike is solid as a rock.

Personally still debating voiding the warranty or just living with 101 MPH.

I don't have one of these but it sounds like your overthinking it.

Mine goes 107 and that's more than fast enough for me. I will send in my ecm because I want the better throttle response.
