Good idea! (And we won't tell her about the 4 sets of Denalis I just put on the GSA, so i can move the Clearwaters to the GTL

And back on topic, I'm really happy with the green sunbrella fabric on my GSA RDL. Doesn't stay dirty, despite my best efforts. And I never cover it in the rain. Had about 30k on it before the rebuild. Will absolutely opt for it if I end up putting it on the GTL.

I have an Air Hawk on my GA. It does extend my ride to be sure, but it has limits.

I have never ridden with a custom seat and the RDL I have on order is a treat I promised myself over 30 years. I've had six BMWs (/5, /7, RS, RT, LT and the GA) and always left the ride without any sensation in the taint. I want to go large this time to see what the fuss is about.

As to the looks of the RDL; I see it as the preverbal hand of Venus cupping my hairy ass.

I've had that experience! The stock seat on the GSA was no better than the GTL. After riding it from CO to visit a friend in OR, he let me ride his with an RDL. And my reaction was similar. Went from being sodomized with Satan's pitchfork to having my cheeks cupped in the velvet-soft hands of an angel. I scheduled a Russell build that day!

At first I disliked the look of the RDL but it is starting to grow on me a bit. And I like the idea of the sunbrella material here in the desert. Since I still have the low seat from the bike as a spare (bought a high seat from a forum member), I am considering sending that in to RDL. Does anyone have pics of the seat with the driver backrest? I think I would go with the backrest if I got one. TIA.
Here are some pictures with and without the backrest.
As far as riding, the gap is unnoticeable.

Thanks for the pics. That is a large backrest. I am currently using an Airhawk on the high seat and that is nice. But I'm not sure it is a permanent solution. I do think I need a backrest.

I want to keep my stock seat. And I want an RDL. Anyone know where I can get a two piece GT seat with heat included so I can get it re-built??

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full.
All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

UPDATE: I did 331 miles today and could easily see doing another 331, I feel perfect. If anyone is on the fence about a RDL seat jump and get one.

A few thoughts: it did raise me up a little but I like the riding position even better. It's easier on legs (I'm short, 30" inseam). Also, my windshield seemed a lot more functional today. I don't know why it matters as it's adjustable but the seat made a big difference in the overall effectiveness of the screen... maybe slightly further away?? IDK but the seat is killer.

The riders seat appears to have the built in back support that is taller than that on the oem seat. Looks like maybe a couple of inches higher (or more). Does that mean that the passenger sits that much higher on the RDL seat vs oem?

It does not appear that my passenger seat is higher, or if it is, its the same ratio as it was...they only did my rider seat so the passenger seat should not have changed other than the cover.
