2016 GTL arrived

My shipper picked up the new to me bike last week and delivered it yesterday AM. Open trailer and of course it's been raining for days and days so first order of business was to get it indoors and dry. I spent a few hours servicing things that needed it. Full brake system flush (8800 miles and the fluid was in rough shape as well as 1/16th" of crap in the rear reservoir...do this every year, folks), check brake pads, lube a sticky wonder wheel, set tire pressures, install Vizi-Tec brake flasher, put the battery on a tender as the bike has been sitting since last October (owner was in an accident on another bike and can no longer ride), etc. General disassembly of panels to get familiar with this process. Then on to cleaning this thing. Lots of nooks and crannies. Ran through using all the menus, radio presets, etc. and of course staring it and giving it a few revs to listen to that lump do its thing!

Making a list of things to order:
Air filter
Stubby antenna
oil filters
...

Might have rideable weather tomorrow so maybe I'll get to see what everyone loves about these cruise ships.

If anyone has suggestions on spares to have on hand, mods that are "must-do" types, please post them up!

Don't mind the mess in the shop. Still in construction mode, winter to summer switchover mode, generally messy person mode.

With this bike: All weather is rideable sir! Enjoy like the rest of us are.

There is thy gold, worse poison to men's souls,
Doing more murders in this loathsome world,
Than these poor compounds that thou mayst not sell.
I sell thee poison; thou hast sold me none.

I agree. I have good goretex gear and don't mind the rain. I just don't want to have to clean it again so soon!

Most these guys ride in any conditions I'm not one of them as I hate cleaning up the mess left over.

Enjoy you new toy and your right about the brake fluid. Don't forget the rear drive oil.

Cleaning has never been a priority except for the seasonal Love Bugs in Florida. They get cleaned off pretty quickly but the rest can wait for the next rain shower...

Ya, once it's dirty I'm far less motivated to do anything about it. I'm going to ceramic coat the front of it to help a bit.

Which ceramic coating have you used/enjoyed?

Adam's is very good and easier to apply than some others, but it's a little more $$ (hey, we're riding BMWs...money is no object)

The Nano Bond stuff is also good.

I'm sure there are others. Just remember...prep is key. Adam's has some good videos on this (as do others on youtube)
