Fourth Gear

I have a K1600 bagger with less than 2000 miles. I've noticed that 4th gear seems to have more of a resonance/vibration than any other gear. It has full function and is not a problem. It is incredibly mild but when you have such a smooth running machine, little things like this are noticeable.

Any thoughts?

These engines and trannies are noisy. "Incredibly mild" is nothing to worry about. Drive it hard and enjoy it

I notice the same thing, especially coasting against the engine compression in 4th.

My 2014 GTL is the same - actually I think its the 40mph mark, cause I can be in 5th and still feel it slightly (though not as bad when in 4th)

I will try to see if I feel the same thing tomorrow.

I'm guessing that this is not a big deal in the space-time continuum, but thought I would ask. It is probably just the resonance created with the frequency of the engine and the mass of the engine.

I really don't think these bikes like a gentle run. They just made to go and go hard!!!! I am very gentle with the bike compare to what I see or read and I do hear at times the trans and the motor like an egg beater in higher gear and low MPH/RPM. I am still learning to bond with her. I do notice that once I rev at any gear or in the correct gear per MPH, she comes to life so magically and I just get to listen to an aircraft V8 or V10 motor. I am adopting more and more. The more I ride, the better I love her. Always keep the RPM a bit higher per gear selected. You really notice the different.

It's fourth gear for me as well, but I can tolerate a Ducati dry clutch so it's no big deal.

Does it seem to anyone else that the transmission whine is excessive at times, in addition to this vibration? 4th gear at 2500 RPMs steady cruise is particularly loud. I don't notice it so much when wearing my full face helmet, but without a helmet it's loud to the point of being annoying.
