Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full.
All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Some progressive thinking by some (but apparently not all). Guts spilled all over the back of your car Assemblywoman Carlton?
Really?
When I was in Vegas last month I was a little disheartened to see a LOT of scooter riders sans helmet and no ATGATT. Pleasantly surprised not to see any of the full size bikers without helmet.

Nevada has a helmet law. I don't know how that effects scooter riders but conventional motorcyclist must wear helmets in Nevada.

Hmmm, what happens if assembly woman's child winds down the window and leaps out onto the road messing up my fairing? I usually find arguments against lane splitting come down to, "I have to sit in traffic, you should too"!
We have been lane splitting & filtering in West Australia for as long I have been riding and I cannot recall one accident caused by it, although there may be a couple of examples.

All it comes down to, " it's not fair, Waaaaaa"

I think most of us feel much more vulnerable when stuck in front of a texting driver in stop-and-go than when splitting the lanes. At least when they're texting they don't usually try to change lanes...but I'm sure some do.

We got screwed in Texas by the HD pirate social stylists. Legislature tacked on a helmet law to the lanesplitting law and the vroom-vroom crowd protested with straight pipes. Bill failed w/o support from the HD pirate union.

I'm working in Las Vegas the last two weeks and I see people with no helmets on all types of small motorcycle and scooters. The law says 50cc or less but they stretch it. Motorcycles, Mopeds & Bicycles
Last year I was passing through Las Vegas and it was bumper to bumper due to an accident. I was spiting lanes and passed a cop. He did a quick blast of his siren but couldn't move.
I kept going on to Salt Lake City.
