Hello from Aquidneck Island, RI

Picking up my 2015 K1600GT from the dealer and riding it home through old city streets, I was thinking that I gotta find myself a riders forum and learn something about throttle response. I had asked the salesman to put the bike in Rain mode, well, it got set to Dynamic, and first time taking off I was using my clutch feathering like a one legged man in that contest. Then I lucked out finding this forum, and I found SMOKINJOES advice about getting going without throttle and practicing my turns. Much appreciate your advice Smokinjoe, I'm practicing it now before I head out. The K1600 made a humble man out of me. I used to ride a 2002 Honda Valkyrie but this K1600 is another dimension altogether.
Looking to learn from the gurus.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaim: "Wow, what a ride".

Congrats and welcome! I'm no guru. Maybe a beggar helping another find a scrap. Glad you're here. A couple more posts here and the forum is unlocked to post elsewhere. All the best to ya!

Congrats on the bike. I spent all my summers, as a kid, just up the hill (Col Christopher Greene Rd) from Sandy Point Beach at my grandparents house. Those were some good times. Is the Newport Creamery still around?

I too enjoyed the beautiful beaches of RI as a kid. Many weekends at Misquamicut beach.

Yup it's still the same ole same ole. Lots more traffic though. And the Hi Li closed shop.

Yes. Love the bike for its plusses. The throttle from dead stop to 2mm is not one of the strong points of my bike. I cope by clutch feathering, to mitigate the effects of quirky throttle response from the get go. Basically in tight slow speed maneuvers I hold the trottle with some revs and feather the clutch for acceleration or deceleration.
I have rented BMW's before, so I knew they aren't Hondas. I was surprised though that I would have to counter the bikes technology so actively when I picked it up. Never rode a motorvehicle before that got my WOAH attention right off the bat.
