Texas GTLE

Hey all. I just purchased a 2015 GTLE with 12,000 miles on it. My name is Howard and I live in Lufkin, Texas. This is my first BMW but I have test rode some over the last few years and finally got the chance to get what I wanted. I’m not able to ride much because I’m still recouping from a wreck that totaled out my new 2018 Goldwing DCT and banged me up quite a bit. I’ve put about 300 miles on the BMW so far but my clutch hand isn’t ready for it yet. Glad to have found y’all.

Enjoy the bike and ride safe, Howard! (Ever hear the Rodney Crowell song, Shes Crazy for Leaving? Great lyric in it that mentions Lufkin!

Welcome from the Space City area! Hope you recover and are able to enjoy - If you get back to riding regularly and you haven't checked out TWTEX.COM, please do - maybe we will meet up on a ride!

FYI I have a 2018 and it came with a quickshifter ("shift assist pro"). I think they also have that as an option on the 2015 - so maybe you can find one to help rest that clutch hand.

No, the shift assist wasn't available until the 2018 model and the 2017 which was only sold outside the US of A.

DANGGGG! Totalled a DCT. Glad you weren't hurt any more seriously. Were you on the GL1800riders.com site?

Welcome to this site. As Al mentioned, you may want to check out Two Wheeled Texans (TwTex.com). There is an active group in East Texas who meet in Jacksonville. They seem to be more of a East Texas BMW club than anything. I have been meaning to try to get to one of their get togethers.

Welcome to the =K=ommunity!

Let's see photos~

There is thy gold, worse poison to men's souls,
Doing more murders in this loathsome world,
Than these poor compounds that thou mayst not sell.
I sell thee poison; thou hast sold me none.

Noted on the factory version.

I also found this aftermarket Quickshifter that may help him. Healtech Quick Shifter Easy for BMW K1600 all years | Accessories International. Don't know if there are any reviews but he may want to give that a look-over.

Welcome to the forum. It's been the best resource for a K1600 owner, by far. Ride safe.
