Hello From South Texas

Hi all and thanks for the add. I am currently riding a Harley Ultra Classic but I am trying to change that as soon as I can. I am going to buy a 2013 K1600GTL with 3000 miles on her. I try and do all of my maintenance as well as repairs myself so I hope to learn all I can from everyone here.

Welcome to the forum and good luck on the purchase. How far south are you in the Lone Star State? Put a pin on the map if you wish.

Welcome! Glad you're here. Best of luck getting your next bike. A couple more posts here and you're unlocked to post throughout the forum. Best to try the TOOLS tab above for an advanced search. Sometimes the same questions that have been answered many many times gets old for long time forum members. So get as many answers as you can there and then post a specific question about what you can find or determine. Lots of good folks and riders on here. Post pics when you find your K!!

I sell thee poison; thou hast sold me none.

So I finally got to ride one of these bad boys. A 2012 with 17000 miles. What a **** fine machine. I can't get over how awesome this bike is. I'm not trying to brand bash but it truly puts my Ultra Classic to shame. Other than having two wheels there's no comparison. The only thing that surprised me is the tranny is clunkier than I expected. Not a deal breaker by any means but not as smooth as anticipated. That being said, I pick it up Monday, I haven't been this excited about a machine in a long time. On a side note, why can't I post anywhere else on this forum?

Welcome aboard. I'm from the 'other end' of Texas (the top!). Quite a few Texans on the board, too! You found the one item that surprises most people new to BMW...the tranny. The K1600 is an incredibly well-engineered machine, except for the transmission. It is solid, don't get me wrong, but doesn't sound like it! Shifting-wise, its buttery smooth, just makes a CLUNK!! when you go into first from neutral. At least you know you are in gear.
