Amplifier installation in Bagger's panier

Hey. I upgraged the stock speakers for Alpine's SPS 410 as soon as I got the bike delivered last winter.

Sound was better but I was missing some volume when I got strong lateral winds or at higher speeds. I can use the NAV VI to stream BT in my helmet but I prefer the fairing speakers, less fatigue on long rides than in the helmet... so no need to rant about the noise... my music does not bother anyone on the highways and I turn the volume down in residential areas.

So I got a good price on a used Rockford Fosgate 2 channels (thanks Soundman05 ) to boost it up a bit.

Panier removal is easy once you know there is a plastic tab to push from the top after you removed the 2 screws inside the panier.

I used 18GA for speakers and 10GA for power, with an inline 30A fuse.

Amplifier is turn ON/OFF by the signal detection from the stock radio, thus I did not install the remote wire.

Amp is secured with 4 x ¾" long x 10 stainless steel bolts with SS nuts with nylon locks.

I installed a 11/16" rubber grommet so I can pass the connectors through it if I have to remove the panier. I'll probably wedge a piece of neoprene to "seal" it since there is a little bit of space between the wires.

Solder every wires to make it look as clean as possible.

Now the real question... what's the easiest way to remove all the dirt under the seat  ... I want to try a paint brush with compressed air

Also impressed with your work. You asked about cleaning - I would use compressed air with a long, fine nozzle (3mm dia ish) and yes, a soft brush.

BTW, if you ever want to include a quick disconnect, you might consider Weatherpack multipin connectors. We use them at work and they are very reliable.

Cheers,

Derek

This is what I ended up putting in the B. A little over kill on the amp but I have room to grow with the system if I choose later. Had to do a little custom work with the heat gun to mold the speaker housing to fit the monster magnet though.

Focal 100AC 4" Coaxial Speakers -- 80 Watts Max
Rockford Fosgate T400X4AD 4 Channel Amp. 4x100 Watts RMS @4 Ohms

Sounds GREAT !!!

Have purchased equipment and will have stereo shop that are magicians install when I get back from my Yosemite, NoCal trip in a couple of weeks. goal is to have everything done internally and leave stock look.
Equipment:
Focal ES 165 KX2's with Hertz ST 25 Horn Tweeters in fairing, Audio Frog GS693 6X9's also with Hertz ST 25 Horn Tweeters in top case all powered by 2 Arc Moto 600.4 amps run through Arc PSM DSP.
I have this exact system in my 19 CVO Roadglide (don't hate me..) and the sound is crazy clear and loud even at 100 mph on the freeway with loud exhaust and ff helmet.
I absolutely love my BGA and having this system will make my bike perfect for me! I get back from my trip on Nov 12th and will take it to shop next day. Since they have never done a extensive system like this on a BMW before they told me they need 2 weeks to complete. I will post pics when done.

You wouldn't happen to be printing money in your basment would ya?
Those ES165's are 1k. All joking aside how are you even fitting them on the fairing, I estimate the front fairing only accommodates a 4" speaker.

Anyhoo would love to see pics and stuff to find out how it all fits together, you are a brave soul for trusting your bike with a mr pimp ride audio place. I wouldn't allow anyone's who's not a specialist to touch mine for any reason.

Watch that amp carefully. Lots of HD guys have thrown those away. They are notorious for overheating. Take a decent ride with the music playing at whatever volume you would normally listen at. Make a stop and put your hand on the amp. I'm betting it's going to be pretty hot to the touch. Set the gain carefully.

I never had heat issues since the installation. Set the bike volume to 6 bars and adjust the gain from the desired level and you will be fine.

I often have stuff in the case that touches the amp and never noticed heat related issues after a day ride with full use of the dash speakers.

Actually, you bring the speaker OUT (wire cut) in the IN of the amp and the OUT of the AMP on the cut wire that goes to the speakers.

Power direct to the battery with an inline fuse as the amp will detect sound and turn ON at that moment.

If you can specify exactly what infos you need, it would help to give you the right answer
Speaker wire colors

Left spkr + = yellow w/ brown stripe
Left spkr - = yellow w/ red stripe
Right spkr + = blue
Right spkr - = blue w/ red stripe

Some pics.
I also did some Quick connects in case I have to take the bike back to the dealership I could unplug the amp and just plug the stock wires back in took a little bit more effort but you never know if there is warranty needs to be done.

Did the road test today sound is great 90+ full face.
