There's a post on the MOA forum of somebody with a 2013 that had a cracked piston. It was a November 2012 purchase but evidently a model year 2013.

I was looking at a low mile 2013 GT with an August 2012 build date and from what I've read here supposedly the issue was fixed mid-year 2012 but since nobody seems to know exactly what the issue was or exactly how/when it was resolved it's close enough to make me nervous so I figured to be on the safe side I'd get a model year 2014 or later.

Loud pipes save egos.

Plan to buy a K1600GT as soon as I find the right one.
Currently own: 5 K75s, a K100, a K1 & 3 K1100s, WR250R

My 2013 had cracked pistons. And I am not the only 2013 that it happened to. I don’t know the build date of it. Good thing was it was still under warranty. I got a complete new engine and transmission. So I was happy. My dealer did a great job. No problems after that.

It’s in perfect condition with all the extras but I can’t seem to get any serious interest....

There’s no BMW dealer network in Buffalo, New York—closest is Toronto, Canada or Erie, PA. Not sure if that has anything to do with it? Any suggestions or advice?

Hate to sell her but the wife will only allow one bike and I just bought a 2019 RGCVO....
Why would you buy a Harley and sell the GT?

Perhaps because that is what he wants and not what you want?

Just a question dude. Trying to understand the mindset of Harley owners especially going from a GT to a Harley whatever it is model.

I've ridden Harleys before. I found them loud, shaky, with decent acceleration and mediocre handling. Just not my style at all.

But many other riders do love them, and more power to those guys.

My favorite was the guy who bought a brand-new fully loaded 2013 GTL, rode it 1,300 miles up to the Bay Area and back to L.A. over a weekend, and immediately traded it in to a Harley dealer because his girlfriend told him she'd rather he'd kept the Harley. The Harley dealer swapped it with a BMW dealer who'd taken a Hog in on trade, then sold the almost-new GTL to me for a 25% discount over full list price.

That one worked out pretty well...

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from . . .
