Kancamagus Hwy Today

Pretty fair day today so I took a ride to northern NH.

The crowds are gone, so is all the color.
Rode across the Kancamagus Highway only 51 degrees at the summit.
The only good thing is I had it pretty much to myself. Roads are in excellent shape.

My wife and I go there every May for a traditional group ride. We meet 30-60 other bikes (mostly Harleys) in Manchester, wind up north thru 3A into Lincoln, and then cross over into North Conway. We reserve the side room at the Muddy Moose for lunch, and get way too loud for the other patrons' liking

It can be 40 or 75 degrees. You never know.

Never cross a "bridge", without checkin' out the view! - me

Coincidence, I had lunch at the muddy moose yesterday.

I love northern NH especially off season. More and more I enjoy the rides north of the notch.
I often go to Colebrook and take Rt 26 to Bethel on the Maine border, then rt 113 at Gilead through Evans Notch
back to south Conway. It is a great loop through some of the best NH has to offer.
Take note: rt 113 is seasonal, it will be barred after the first real snow.

And yes, I did go through Canterbury yesterday. I often take rt 132 north to avoid the super slab.

Thanks for this. We usually spend an extra couple of days there after everyone leaves, to ride Vermont, NH, and Maine. I will try this route in May. We usually drive to Manchester a day early so we can head over to Seacoast, then up to Portsmouth, NH. Some real pretty coastal riding.
