@rush21122 great idea for the cookout - the burgers were great, and thanks to @mkrok for playing chef! Kyle, Bob, Jay and I had a great ride on Sunday. We did all 6 gaps - Neels, Hogpen, Jacks, Unicoi, Woody, and Wolfpen (twice) - plus Hwy 197, Bridge Creek, Seed Lake, and Low Gap. We left the lodge at 8:15, and with a stop for lunch at Yonah Burger in Cleveland (where Kyle peeled off) and a stop on Hwy 60 to diagnose Jay's bike problem (he lost all but 3rd gear on his K1200S - bet he's glad they trailered from Memphis), we arrived back at the lodge by 3:30.

@K1zzle , thanks for letting Stephanie and I test ride your XR with the 41 tooth rear sprocket - we'll change to that when its time to replace the current set.

Steve, I didn't care for riding twisties in the rain, however, during this event, the mind loosened up the body and I welcomed the rain/wet after the first hour or so. Give me wet twisties over South Florida wet/dry roads any day.

I witnessed a SLIGHT difference in @Qbird66 riding with/without his other half. Possibly less physical beating and yelling through 30k. No wave bye on Sunday's ride. He was hauling ***.

@K1zzle - pretty sure I was still holding you up. Nobody needs to wait for a wave - just go around!

No Sir, you have never held me up. I'm usually four or five bikes back off your lead. I enjoy the pace of the rides you host one or two up.

I finally viewed some of the recordings, and the GP3 does a horrible job on the XR windscreen.

This is part of what I love riding with you all. I am usually at the very end of the group and I have yet to see an ego issue.

BMW K1600 SE Riders Weekend After Memorial Day Mountain Ride- June 2018

One of the great things about Experienced Mountain Riders is that they all know that each individual rider can have a great performance day. There no need to race. Just like golf or tennis certain participants can have an amazing day where things just seem to go great. This often comes from repeated practice of previous days to weeks of instruction. For me I enter a zone of concentration where everything else just does not matter. My option- It is what keeps us coming back/ Itís why we ride. Best,

Doc

Here's a short video clip of Kevin leading the way on Sunday afternoon after Kyle broke off and before Jay's tranny malfunctioned. This was on Wolf Pen Gap Rd / Hwy 180. It felt a lot faster than it looks - check out the lean angles.

Thanks to Kevin for putting together some GREAT routes!

Had a blast riding with everyone. Look forward to the next one.

Bummer - the search for a good forward mounting position on the XR continues.

Exactly. Riding with Y'all requires all my concentration and (at least to me) is very intense, hence nothing else matters but getting thru that next turn and enjoying the heck out of it

"why we ride" very true

P.S. we all share the same passion hence we ride together
