Disk Locks

I have a great Kryptonite disk lock - it's like a mini U-lock - that has given good service but was dismayed to find that it won't fit in the left-hand fairing cubby

I don't like things like that rattling around loose in a pannier or the top case, so I've been looking for an alternative that will fit in the cubby and was wondering if anyone can confirm whether or not the Oxford XD14 does? Or suggest a good quality alternative?

As an aside, I'm a bit disappointed at the lack of storage space available on the bike for small items like a disk lock, emergency puncture repair kit, ratchet straps for ferry tie-down, etc. - unless I've missed something obvious?

Welcome to the forum. Really sorry to hear about your disappointment with lack on storage in your new K bike; did you consider the Gold Wing?

Ha ha

The real joke is that the 'Wing - apart from the comedy price tag in the UK - has even less storage space.

Yup, loads more. It had two pretty large cubbies in the fairing, either side of the tank. Ideal for those small but essential items that you want to carry, but don't want either rattling around in a pannier, or vying for luggage space when you need to use the panniers for carrying gear for a trip.

Yeah, that was one of hardest adjustments to make for me. I had all kinds of quickly needed item in my ST cubbies. That's where it would be nice if somebody came up with some nice looking and lockable storage cubbies to replace the speakers with on these bikes.

I would think one like this would fit in the left cubby.

Ive got an Abus 8077 Granit Detecto which fits nicely in the gear selector side compartment, but
you have to wrap it in a cloth as its bag is too big
