‘22/‘23 TFT and Zumo XT Mount

Yes, this thread is a repeat of a previous thread I started. The purpose of which is to aid and/or help those interested in using a Zumo XT with the newer K bikes TFT; NOT to debate the merits of the TFT and the BMW Connected App!

Lets try this again:

I exchanged a couple of emails with the company in Italy, Adapter 3D Motorrad Shop ⎜Vendita Accessori per Moto - Made in Italy, they make the Zumo XT mount for the '11-'21 K1600. The email I got from them today said a mount for the '22/'23 K bike, which will go above the TFT, should be ready in a few weeks

Some where here I found this link

to these folks that make the RT Zumo mount. I sent an email and asked if it also fit the GT / GTL and the guy got back to me with "he wasn't sure" but may check it out the next time he's at the dealer. I kinda doubt it given the RT has no phone compartment.

So...I really like the look and placement of that mount but haven't seen any others until pursuing random YT vids. Cheesy video however at the 5:50 mark there's a good shot of a GT with a mount that I believe has a NAV unit. Looks like it should fit a Zumo XT also. I assume, don't no for a fact, but assume it would also fit the GTL??? Anyone? Anyone know who makes the mount in this video?

Thanks

Edit to say that bike looks to be a Wunderlich build out bike at a booth filmed somewhere. And the NAV holder itself is almost certainly theirs. But I have searched their site and can't find anything matching the bracket mount itself for either the GTL or GT.

Yes...the cradle for a Zumo I've found on their site too. But where is the mount to the dash that it connects to?

Beginning again at like 6:20 in that video there is clearly a specific form fitting dash mount plate that the Zumo XT cradle mounts to. 4 screws holding it down. That's what I can't find.
That's because their aren't any...

Duane
There is in that video.
Yes, I know there's a video. But there's a difference between a video and photos... just sayin'.

Duane
Ok...I'm lost. You're saying there isn't what? A mounting dash bracket for the GT or GTL?

But there clearly is one that Wunderlich has on their branded bike in their booth at whatever show that video was taken at.

Is it a prototype? Cause I'd sure like one. Looks to be a great solution.

I filled out their contact and asked them but haven't heard back yet. Thought maybe some one here would know.
Yes that is evidently a prototype and not a product. It appears that four bolt holes would have to be drilled through the top of the phone cubby. That is likely not the product level solution they would choose. Works great to get their test bike to the show though!
Yes...I was thinking this also. But I'm pretty handy and wouldn't mind drilling the holes if it works as good as it looks. Seems to be a very clean looking solution.

Maybe they'll get back to me and let me beta test one. :)
@Robert_W , No, I never said there wasn't a bracket for XT/K1600 TFT. I was saying there are no photos unless you want to call the one Wunderlich video a photo...

I've spoken with Wunderlich USA in NC. They have no knowledge of anything Zumo XT/K1600 TFT related products.

On here, the forum, i remember seeing a member mounted a Zumo XT above the TFT using a ball mount. i don't have my '23 yet, but i have the parts I will need if I decide to go that route.

Duane
I've seen that ball mount above the TFT also. If I recall they drilled holes in the dash too. But it wasn't a great solution. At least not as clean as that video anyway.

Interesting they'd deny having something when clearly they do. Maybe a one off but now I want one.
Quoting the post and video for reference and so no one has to go back and look.

So...I contacted Wunderlich and the Zumo XT dash bracket / mount DOES exist but only as a prototype right now. Here is the response from them.

Hi Robert,

I'm sorry for not getting back to you sooner!

The bracket is currently still a prototype from us and it is still debatable if we will have it go into production.

In the meantime we have the following products for the Zumo XT

Wunderlich Lock System - Garmin Zumo XT

Hans

I had a couple of other exchanges with them offering to beta test it etc but won't bother anyone with the details. TLDR etc.

But here's the bottom line. If you guys would like to see them actually produce one and therefore have a very clean / functional almost factory looking mount for the Zumo XT...then contact them and let them know. The more of us they hear from the more likely they will be to make one.

Guys name is Hans. Contact the Team at Wunderlich America

Make sure to reference the prototype Zumo XT dash mount for the GT/GTL.

Cheers.

Until a better solution comes up this is how I mounted the Zumo on my GTL and on my girlfriend's B. Not as good as having them on top of the TFT but I dont trust the 3M self-adhesive RAM ball nor I am anxious to drill holes on the fairing.........yet!

Until If and or when Wunderlich releases that mounting system I'll be going with the bike pen. This.

I'm a bit concerned with tank bag interference and sight though.

Do you ride with a tank bag? And issues with one?
That’s definitely not cheap! Get Arizona Jim’s RAM Ball mount for $25 and your good to go!
Linky? Does he sell them online?
