Since I am not allowed to ride or drive for a month I called my ex-boss To see if he can get a warranty claim on my old 2016 / 2017 GT luggage latch lock a common issue with our beloved GT./ GTL and RT`s
His coming to pick up my bike on the 8th of march and see if BMW will help me with a new kit.
Then I need to replace the near new rear tyre with another one due to having a nail in the Pirelli GT tyre, then plugged it on the very day I had my stroke so can't do much to get it to the dealership is helping me out again.
Then flush and replace the coolant as I left the bike running and lost some coolant due to the overheating. When I looked at topping up the coolant it appeared to look more like water and no coolant so rather than risk overheating I am playing it safe.
Since I bought the bike the throttle does not fully return without doing it manually so having the guys look at that while it is there. When I bought the bike second hand it had a brand new full engine put in and the first 1,000 km run in service was done but not sure if the adjustment on the throttle needs to be looked at along with the coolant.

A perfect time to get these done and not lose any riding time once I am allowed to ride and get the doctor's clearance to do so again.

I have been trying to get to my headlight to see if I can clean up the crazing on the lens, today I made an effort as I have been offered a half-price headlight from BMW but that is still around $2,600.00 AUD and being a tight arse I thought I should give this a try. The final result was slightly better but I am thinking I need to do this again. I used the Rainx restoring kit to some satisfaction but being a protectionist I going to do it again soon instead of doing it by hand I am going to use a rotary buff that should clean it to nearly new. today's effort is below.

Looks pretty effective to me
It still had lots of crazing in when you turned the headlight on you could see it so I bought a Buff and cordless drill this morning along with 400, 800 and 2,000 Grit wet and dry then sanded it all back, that got every mark out off it I buffed it with the RainX restorer and finished with the sealant it is now like it came off the BMW stock line. This time it only took around 2 hours to complete.

The bike has been at my former employer's for 2 days now have a new rear tyre fitted coolant flushed and replaced, and the throttle return adjusted along with some warranty work on the rear luggage latch so they can be taken off and replaced without stuffing around getting them to relock. I spoke to one of the guys who will ride it back to me today and have yet to receive an invoice for the cost. At least the bike is ready to blast around the highways and byways once I am cleared from my 4 week's recovery as per the law required after a stroke. I have a heart angiogram next Thursday, if that's all clear I should be back on the bike. Meanwhile, the doctor seems to love giving me more and more meds so much so I am rattling when I walk, talk or **** lol :rolleyes:

Update from this morning.
I got the bike delivered back this afternoon all done but the Rear case latch locks needed new locking pins they have been ordered from BMW and excepted under warranty so just need to wait until they arrive to be fitted.

I got my invoice today after over a week of having the GT back in the garage. Considering the guys picked up my bike then did the work I wanted and dropped the bike back to me I think I did ok price-wise.
Change tyre remove and replace with Pirelli Angle GT, and balance
Adjust throttle return.
Drain and replace coolant inspect and replace / back order the locking pins on both of the rear Panniers.
$1,195.00 less discount and locking pins to be covered by BMW warranty claim.
Total cost $613.90.
Rather than push my finances I paid with after pay so spreading the payments over 4 fortnightly payments interest-free is a bonus.

Catch up maintenance

I thought it was ketchup maintenance, like making sure you have enough ketchup/tomato sauce for your meat pie.
Smothered on Ketchup as John1955 Damian introduced him to that tradition when he visited Australia in Melbourne. Damian and his wild bunch took him to some of Victoria's best scenic countryside.

Lets clarify your statement Geoff, I feel it’s a little open ended.

American John smothered his Pie with Ketchup ( Tomato Sauce )

I didn’t smother American John in Ketchup and take him up the mountains, just too be clear.

We don’t want the rest of The World thinking we are weirdos

I am sure the Americans already think we are a bunch of weirdos Damo lol. Although I am sure American John knows we are not all that bad and has the utmost respect for you in any case. :geek:(y)

I'm telling ya.... In the US, if someone had the money and energy to franchise Meat Pies instead of Hamburgers and Tacos, they could do well. I was impressed. @Damian M introduced me to Pies in Victoria, and I later had one in New Zealand..... Boom! :D

Funny you say that John but I wonder if they would actually try the Tomato sauce or Ketchup? when I was coach driving I had a bunch of American kids from Cape Canaveral that was organised by their parents who worked for NASA to tour the east coast of Australia. One of the venues we had for lunch organised Hamburgers for them and chips/fries they were to put them together their self add all the ingredients etc. We have real hamburgers here with lots of salads etc including beetroot and I could not for the life of me get the kids to try beetroot and carrot along with BBQ sauce on the burgers all they wanted was lettuce, tomato and mayo how boring lol. I think if they opened their minds and tried it they would have loved them and wanted more. Funny how we all get so conditioned to eating something and won't try anything new. So my point I guess is I wonder if you guys had a Pie shop and they offered Tomato sauce would Americans really go for it? I know you are more worldly than some and have tried our pie and sauce lol thanks to Damian and crew haha!! or maybe you were just being polite as his guest lol.:geek:(y)
