Farkle recommendations ?

Hi,

OK so my 2017 C650GT sold real fast in Oct up here which surprised me and BMW (sold on consignment) a little bit. This is all play money for me and I'd like to add some farkle. I don't want to go crazy but would like to know the groups thoughts on what helps make the K1600 an even better bike. I have a 2019 GT Sport fully loaded including top case.

I do know I want drop protection however there are a few options. My wife will be riding pillion so is there anything on the sport side that will make her more comfy while maintaining the sporty look?

This winter Motorrad Toronto is going to send a truck to pick up my bike so they can do the transmission recall. Awesome of them to offer the free tow so I don't have to bring it in though the benefit to them is it gives the mechanic something to do in the slow period. The other benefit is I can get the drop protection installed at the same time along with anything else the crew here recommends.

I've already looked at this thread and a few others but things can change in a year and we have new members I'm sure that may have an opinion.

Looking forward to any advice.

Added lights both front and rear seem to be something a lot of us have added. There are too many options (Clearwater, Denali to name a couple) to list here but using the search engine will get you going.

After market seats too. Russel Day Long, Corbin, Sargent etc.

+1 @Arizona Jim , When/if I get another bike as soon as I get it home, the #1 Safety Modification/FARKLE will be to add high powered LED running lights WITH amber lenses on the front and something like a Clearwater Billie Brake light will go on the back.

WRT to safety, my biggest worry riding is someone else NOT seeing me. My above recommendation alleviates that worry as much as possible!

Seat and lighting aside, I think two of the best looking mods (even though they are lighting) are the Clearwater Betsy turn signal mod and the Schroedie roundel lights.

I just want to say thanks for all the comments so far guys. I'll look in to extra lighting beyond the extra lights that the bike came with.

Any real preference on crash bars? Ilium works seems easiest for one stop ordering as long as they are quality. If/while I'm shopping there what else should I add the the cart?

I second what many have recommended. This is the order for installation
  1. Engine protection bars and pannier protection bars. You will drop the bike! I have AltRider Engine bars on the front and Illium rear panniers bars.
  2. Power distribution system to avoid the CANbus faults. I have the PDM60.
  3. Lights. First replace the headlight bulbs with the LEDS recommended by Top_Speed
  4. For additional lights, my recommendation is the very expensive Clearwater solution. I have the Clearwater Ericas and Darlas, and the Billie brake light all connected to the CANopener 4 so they are controlled through the Wonderwheel
  5. Horn. I have the Stebel Nautilus
Now ride a few thousand KMs and decide if you need a new seat and windscreen.

I rode 80K miles on my OEM sport seat before replacing it with a slightly used Sargent seat. I still use the very low sport windscreen.

Thanks, I have Sena systems in all our helmets. I much prefer listening to music/podcasts through it than speakers and the intercom saves me from many head slaps or laser stares if she's in the sidecar.

I've looked at the vets and will pick one up when I see a good sale.
