I spotted a GT in Riverside, MO, in Horizons industrial park area on NW 41st. I think it was a '14?? It was parked prominently as if displayed. That was last Fri the 23rd I think it was.

And last night, 8.28.19 I spotted a black B heading south on Nall avenue about 151st in Overland Park, KS. Looked like he rode to work and was coming home, perhaps. I didn't have a chance to snap a pic as I was headed north.

I spotted a black B running with some HDs IIRC on Sat 8.31.19 south of Jasper, AR. I spotted a GTL coming up the Main St hill in Eureka Springs, AR while we were heading downhill on Sun 9.1.19. So easy to spot those owl eyes when they’re approaching. Saw an LT parked on Main as well. But 2 K’s out of about 200+ was pretty cool to me. Saw more GSA’s than any other BMW.

Took my GT out for a day ride to Neah Bay yesterday. When I stopped at Harbor Freight in Port Angeles to buy a tube of clear RTV I saw this GTL in the parking lot. When I came out I met the owner and we chatted for a few minutes. It's a 2103 that he purchased a couple of years ago that now has 82K on it.

To the nice couple that approached me across from Alice's Restaurant around noon today. I wish I had stopped to talk for a little while. I was dressed, saddled, with a destination in mind, and about to start the motor when you walked up. If you happen to be on the board, give me a shout.

You said you were also on a Big K. I didn't see the bike when I pulled out. So I'm not even sure which model you're on.

You did say that you had been thinking about getting the GPR exhaust but you hadn't seen them live on a Big K before today. I had the connecting pipe and the heat shields ceramic coated at Accessories Plus in Belmont. I couldn't think of the name earlier.

Hope to see you around.

If you look at the picture posted by Quack (#823), with all the reflectors on the back and the MOA sticker on the top box... this one is mine (jfodge), bought from TexanWest on April Fools Day, 2016. I am really glad to confirm that I was not a fool to buy this beautiful thing.

At the time, I was riding a 2004 K1200LTC (named Wolfgang) and had put nearly 40k miles on it in two years, traveling between home and TX or Alaska multiple times.

I bought the K16 because of all the lights and reflecting materials that TW had installed. I like big and visible. The name "Hawkeye" seems to fit this big bird-of-prey that comes hurtling out of space toward you with it's sharp, curved nose and piercing eyes...at speed.

It had 27k miles on it when I bought it. Last week I topped 83k miles (56k in 2.5 years). It has been to Alaska (1x) and TX (2xs) and across the lower 48 (2xs) along with a couple of provinces around the Great Lakes region.

TW had earned an Iron Butt award, and so had rewarded the bike with a couple of stickers...so, I felt that if I was going to leave those stickers on, I should make a ride that deserved such. So, I did a 1,200 mile/24 hours ride and followed it up on the next 12 hours with another 600 miles; qualifying for the first two levels of the IB.

It sure was fun meeting Quack and talking about our rides. Oh, BTW. Quack - I happened to be coming back into Port Angeles later that evening and saw that you were safely on your way home again. Good news.

After a Sunday afternoon ride into Wisc I stopped at Joe's Sporting Goods and parked next to a GTL. After my purchase I was fortunate to find the owner talking with his riding friend (on a Kawasaki) and looking over my bike. We had a nice talk about our history with the K1600 and motorcycles in general since 1977 (yes we both have grey hair). He said he wished he had bought a GT and I couldn't disagree with him since mine looks so much better than his (very biased opinion). Nice end to a nice ride.

I saw a B heading south on Wyandotte from 135th near Martin City in south KC the first week of Oct or so. Also saw what I believe was light grey GTL heading north on 435 at about 87th street last week.

Even though I just got home from a 2,750 mile ride to California and back last night, (didn't see a single K16 the whole ride) it was a sunny day in Western Washington so I decided to take my GT for its first ferry ride (at least since I've owned it) to go check out the items being auctioned off at the recently deceased Seattle BMW dealership.

On my way home I took the Edmonds-Kingston ferry. While I was waiting for the ferry watching the sun set over The Olympic Mountains, this gentleman on a 2019 GTL pulled up behind me.

(Yes, my exhaust is dirty from riding in the rain and my windscreen is covered in salt from spending yesterday riding up the coast but I'm more of a rider than a polisher and riding seemed better than polishing today.)

Wow...amazed to find this thread I created nearly 10 years ago still going strong and chugging along towards 1000 posts. It's been heartwarming seeing the occasional drive-by "missed connections" reconnect.

I'm still riding my pre-order K1600GTL in Royal Blue, first one of its color delivered to San Diego. Relocated to Baltimore three years ago - I'll see one every few months or so, but fewer sightings in Maryland. Happy to say that I'm moving back to San Diego this weekend - looking forward to seeing you all out there!

Just found your thread🙂. There are 2 other GTL’s and a GT in the group I frequently ride with in Ohio. Still quite a minority...

Nice to see I am not the only one that trusts people, by leaving my helmet on the bike if I am going into a shop or cafe. I noted the Beads on your seat. I used them years ago when they were popular here in Australia. I have never been able to get hold of them for over 10 years. They were great for allowing air circulation and helped with back support when I drove long distant tour coaches here. Thanks for posting your photo of your bike.

Spotted a couple on a K1600 B today on my way to work at the intersection of Highway 83 and Baptist/Hodgens Rd in Monument, Colorado.

Yesterday, a blue GTL parked at the La Quinta hotel, Cedar City, UT. Too bad our paths did not cross.

Today x2; GT and GS heading east on I-70 just west of Salina, UT. About 50 miles later, silver GT, 2-up heading east as well.

Awesome to see people putting in the miles!

And the moderators still haven't separated it out by region when I ask way back then on post #7. It would sure be easier to respond and find each other locally if they would.😁

Saw an Austin Yellow Grand America this afternoon at 5:30 on Pasco Kahlotus highway in eastern Washington. Too bad I was in my truck and going the other direction.
