A lot of XR bashing here so I'm not going to join in on that. Obviously you want one so get it. As far as the ultra long tours go, after I retired is when those became fun for me. Not like I didn't do them before it's just that I have no set time I need to return home and it's very liberating. After I smashed my second GT I went looking and after riding mutable bikes I bought the GS with no intention of going off road. It's a fine street bike that works well on the track. It also works well if you want to go to Alaska and as it turns out a lot of us retired people do exactly that.
