On my daily commute there are only 3 curves I know by heart I usually slow down to 120 kph about 1km before the first curve to the left and keep it constant throughout the 3 curves. I never switch lanes during the turns. And with this approach I feel extremely comfortable very much within my limits and the bikes’ limits.
Today something was different, there was an SUV in the middle lane approaching the turn some 400m ahead of me and I didn’t felt comfortable having the SUV to my right in the apex of a left turn so I decided to delay my breaking point to have the SUV by my side at the entrance of the curve. I think he must have speed up because I ended up breaking much harder than expected and leaning much more into the curve than I usually do. Later I checked the ride metrics in the connected app and say that my speed at the turn was 118kph as usual (felt much faster) with a lean angle of 35 degrees (almost 10 degrees more than my usual lean angle in this curve). This lean angle is something i usually get on my 1250GSA and doesn’t feel like much, but it definitely felt like a lot on the K.
