For those that may want the display mounted using the stem bolt method.
So what protocols were used for all the connections? So far it all powers down and comes back. To do all of this, you need to control what protocols each device uses to connect to other devices.
The Carpuride will be fine as long as you have a cellular connection. For navigation the Garmin needs no internet.Just curious why you have the carpuride and the garmin? With carplay the garmin should be redundant.
Not to mention the current state of the MRA CarPlay app isn’t good.Yea, this is true for most phone apps for complete functionality. However, MRA does provide an option for complete offline operation with downloaded route and maps. But nothing is free. The power consumption on the phone app is substantial. Add in a long hot day, you're stressing your phone at a level I'm not comfortable with.
I know this wasn't meant for me, but...What are you wanting to do? Connection wise.
Agreed, but I also like being able to plan routes on my iPad and Mac using inRoute. And for me, inRoute is still a better route planning tool than MRA.@Rambler358 I really like inRoute. If all I was doing was routing on a phone, and I had to choose, it would probably be inRoute.
Yes I'm aware of this current inRoute limitation, but hopefully the devs will resolve this soon. But if a Garmin GPS is the primary routing device, MRA GPX files import cleaner. As you know, inRoute exports shaping points as via points, that have to manually be converted back to shaping points on the Garmin side. It’s not impossible, but I don’t want to fix things every time a transfer happens.
The map panning in inRoute to store the maps is really not a big deal for me, takes no time at all and only needs to be done once. And the inRoute panning thing in the phone bothers me. For offline purposes, in MRA, you download the maps and download the route. Nothing is left to the imagination. It’s a personal thing, but I’m more comfortable with the more defined MRA process.
You really don't have to know anything about the CA, other than the phone is just using Bluetooth to connect to the bike. And I'm not 100% on this, but from the communication I've been having with Carpuride support, CarPlay does use Bluetooth. Wi-Fi is used to mirror the phone's screen to CarPlay, and Bluetooth is used for audio playback.I know nothing at all about the new connected app but I will tell you... Carplay doesn't use BT. It uses Wifi so it's not really an issue with everything else.
