So far it all powers down and comes back. To do all of this, you need to control what protocols each device uses to connect to other devices.
So what protocols were used for all the connections?

Just curious why you have the carpuride and the garmin? With carplay the garmin should be redundant.
The Carpuride will be fine as long as you have a cellular connection. For navigation the Garmin needs no internet.

Yea, this is true for most phone apps for complete functionality. However, MRA does provide an option for complete offline operation with downloaded route and maps. But nothing is free. The power consumption on the phone app is substantial. Add in a long hot day, you're stressing your phone at a level I'm not comfortable with.
Not to mention the current state of the MRA CarPlay app isn’t good.

i did find out from the inRoute devs that that routes can be cached so when you don’t have a cell connection. This can be tested by turning on Airplane mode - I tested this and it works. The couple times inRoute flaked out on me I was without cell service, and I did not cache the route beforehand. Caching the route just involves planning around map(s) where the route(s) are.

I might just give CarPlay another chance with the Carpuride W702.

What are you wanting to do? Connection wise.
I know this wasn't meant for me, but... :)

I want to keep Bluetooth to my '22 GTL if possible. Not the Wi-Fi, but just Bluetooth so I can have my trips recorded in the Connected App. I'd also like to have my Sena connected to the bike for phone calls and music. Then I have my Sean and a Carpuride W702 and my iPhone. I really only want CarPlay for navigation, but if I can use some other CarPlay features then great. My previous attempts to use CarPlay had issues while still having Bluetooth connections to the bike - but this could have been because I didn't have the correct connections. And with the W702, I saw there's an update to where you don't have to have the Sena connected to CarPlay, just the phone. So I was thinking CarPlay with the W702 may be worth another shot.

@Rambler358 I really like inRoute. If all I was doing was routing on a phone, and I had to choose, it would probably be inRoute.
Agreed, but I also like being able to plan routes on my iPad and Mac using inRoute. And for me, inRoute is still a better route planning tool than MRA.
But if a Garmin GPS is the primary routing device, MRA GPX files import cleaner. As you know, inRoute exports shaping points as via points, that have to manually be converted back to shaping points on the Garmin side. It’s not impossible, but I don’t want to fix things every time a transfer happens.
Yes I'm aware of this current inRoute limitation, but hopefully the devs will resolve this soon.
And the inRoute panning thing in the phone bothers me. For offline purposes, in MRA, you download the maps and download the route. Nothing is left to the imagination. It’s a personal thing, but I’m more comfortable with the more defined MRA process.
The map panning in inRoute to store the maps is really not a big deal for me, takes no time at all and only needs to be done once.
For MRA, I didn't see any map download option. But I saw it's there for the route. Even still, using MRA Next on a phone or CarPlay device is painful - aside from crashing, it still seems like a beta app and is missing things I'd expect to see.

And yes, this stuff is all personal and one uses what one prefers. I still have my zumo 595 and am still considering upgrading to a XT or XT2 but if I can get CarPlay working the way I want then I'll hold off on that and use CA routing if CarPlay can't work in a certain scenario. I previously thought the below problem was due to the CA's routing, but it was actually my fault in placing waypoint 11 on the wrong side of the street, so the CA was having me turn around to get there.

I know nothing at all about the new connected app but I will tell you... Carplay doesn't use BT. It uses Wifi so it's not really an issue with everything else.
You really don't have to know anything about the CA, other than the phone is just using Bluetooth to connect to the bike. And I'm not 100% on this, but from the communication I've been having with Carpuride support, CarPlay does use Bluetooth. Wi-Fi is used to mirror the phone's screen to CarPlay, and Bluetooth is used for audio playback.
