Looking for any Exclusive owners who are having reception problems with the Sat. Radio. Mine worked fine until the past two weeks, now it is rarely useable.
Getting bounced between the dealer and SirusXM.
Also the FM reception works properly.

I don't think the radio us exclusive to the Exclusive. So, first, take Bluetooth out if the equation. Turn on your bike speakers (audio, sound, speakers on). Verify they are working properly by dialing in a good FM station. Switch to Sirius. Make sure you're not in a garage, and have a clear view if the sky. If signal sound from speakers is bad, call Sirius and have them refresh your signal. If still bad, take it to dealer and have them fix the radio.

If your sound us good thru speakers, but bad on Bluetooth, you have a Bluetooth problem. If so, If you have BMW Comm System, ask the dealer to update the BMW Comm software. There's a thread listing the bulletin number. This update significantly improves the Sat audio sound via Bluetooth.

It's hard to help without more specifics.

I've been commenting about this on the forum for over two months, and hardly any responses, let alone suggestions. Will be asking for a new radio, or antenna soon from the dealer here in Tucson. Hopefully they'll be supportive.

You might have the dealer check to see if the foil antenna base was installed. Apparently some were not. Mine was missing and then installed, but my Sirius reception is no better.

Thanks for the input, but what I'm having an issue with is reception. Unlike either of our two car radios or my portable unit, the GTL system spends a lot of time "linking"
and when I do receive a signal it is frequently weak with never more than 1 bar. This happens using Bluetooth to helmet or with the built in bike speaker.

My Exclusive seems to have really good reception, almost always two to three bars, so it isn't a model issue. If your dealership wants to try saying it is a satellite issue, then they should be able to show you another bike or two with the same reception...my only intermittent issue is dropouts in the music (using the BMW communicators ) I have been able to resolve that by going to intercom and off a couple times and forcing the system to search and lock onto the blue tooth connection. I don't believe that is what you are talking about here however...

View attachment 26330 I have found the cause of my sat. radio reception problem (me). Installed a Ambarella Mini 0801 dash cam recorder which is causing the problems. Tried changing cam gps settings between open or close, no improvement. I have two mounts for this camera and switch between my bike and truck both have sat. radios, no problems with reception in my truck. Will continue to look for another dash cam for my bike.

Thanks. Based on the small number of responses, XM reception is clearly not an issue for most of you. Unfortunately, it continues to haunt me. Three day ride to Northern Arizona this past weekend, and spent more time WITHOUT reception than with. Does anyone know whether the antenna wire could be replaced with the antenna wire from a portable XM unit. I would be happy to Velcro the "puck" to the top of the Nav visor area in an attempt to actually hear the service that I pay for every month.

Sat. Radio Antenna

Sure, under your seat is the audio Control Unit. The Pink connector goes to the Satellite Radio antenna:

The actual Sirus Satellite antenna is located up & underneath the GPS instrument Cover. It is relatively easy to remove this cover and make sure the antenna is connected properly.

A new Satillite Radio antenna with the proper connection/ adapter ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0083TX86S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) can be placed in either location. Hope this is of assistance. Best,

Wow, nice pics and info. I've been struggling since purchase with Sirius reception. Initially the foil piece was missing, and after it was installed, things improved only a little. Just to clarify please, I have several XM antennas for an old MIFI portable radio. R u saying that there is an adapter available whereby I can connect one of these antennas to the GTL radio? I'm perfectly happy to have the antenna puck affixed to the top/exterior of the GPS door if it will improve my poor reception. Very grateful for your help.

Satellite Radio Adaptor

Yep, it is called a Sirius XM Radio FAKRA Antenna Adapter Connector (
). When I was having trouble with my Audio Control unit I not only went through all the connections but, installed a new boosted Satellite Radio Antenna. That is most likely the adaptor you need as I do not know what exact satellite antenna's you will be utilizing. Best,

I had reception problems with my GTL. the xm kept losing the signal and was always trying to link up. My dealer told me that I had mounted my EZ-Pass on top of the satellite antenna. Once I removed the transponder it worked perfectly. The antenna is mounted directly under where your camera is mounted.

Gary, That looks perfect. It doesn't look like I need the antenna adapter plug connector that is ALSO offered. Do you agree? And when you said you added a new boosted radio antenna, what did you mean? R u talking about a new antenna for the Sirius radio? And please, if u ever get close to Tucson, I'd love to buy you a beer or five. Thanks again.
