Ignition on, deploy screen to fully up position, push button & it should open?

Push the button while simultaneously pushing the lid down. Not sure why it hangs up like this (other than something is causing it to have upward pressure, keeping the clamp from releasing), but pushing down on the lid helps the clamp release.

 

i also have to push down at times just to close it.

 

Thanks- no dice. I’m afraid to push too hard anywhere and risk breaking something- I’ll swing back by the dealer and let him risk it.

 

Same here, every once in a while my right side corner won’t release. Just have to press down on the lid while pushing the button and bingo it releases.

 

Here is the fix. I have a 2024 K 1600 B. When it is open remove the 2 screws holding the TFT display. Pull up and back to move it away. You will see the mechanism for the compartment release. Pull back and hold the left side while pushing forward on the right. That will correct this issue.

 

You also have to hit the key fob button first. Armed with that knowledge it works as intended. Thanks for the help, gents - good to know the tricks if it gets stuck in the future.

 

Huh?? Fob doesn’t do anything. It locks/unlocks the locks on the motorcycle but doesn’t do anything with the cellphone compartment.

 

Hmmmm. Sounds like another not-quite-ready-for-primetime BMW PITA idea.

 

I don’t think it’s the OP. He said he was going to take it back to the dealer to figure it out. Then his next post says the fob needs to be operated. It’s my assumption that the dealer told him this, erroneous information. So my reply really wasn’t directed at the OP, but rather at the bad information the dealer gave him.

 

Sure I get that. I was just saying that if the OP or anyone else believes that and in fact it keeps working for them then fine. Problem solved. No harm, no foul. Heck, even though I fancy that I know better I just might try it myself!!

 

Haha! Who knows. As much bad gouge we’ve gotten from dealerships and maybe even BMW themselves, maybe it DOES lock and we just don’t know it!

Yea, Tim, I was picturing the often stuck GPS elevator on my 14GTL. Didn't know the new model had a different phone compartment other than the little pocket on the right side by my knee, which has a USB connector, etc. to place a phone or a usb storage device, in there while it charges, and/or plays music through the factory stereo system. Both those compartments had to have a little whack often, and sometimes a little pry with a pocket knife or other handy object. Oh, well. Time to go to the dealer and check out the new models just for education and entertainment.
