I have the same problem with the forehead hot spot; I've used ball peen hammer, beer bottle et al to relieve it. I don't doubt the compromised material that has been relieved, but, if I am going to hit my head that hard, in that spot, then there are probably other serious issues I will be dealing with. I have had several C2 and C3s and loved 'em except for the hot spot.

I bought Shoei Neotechs for myself and wife this past summer [and they cost a lot as there was a huge discount on an XR that was calling out...]. No doubt about the top quality of Shoei, BUTT they are heavy - at least 9oz more than the C4. I now wear a 4" neck collar that I delude myself into thinking is supporting some of that weight. And, I am adding Senas to them so that is another 8+ oz of weight.

Another good thing about the Shoei is they can be personally fitted with small pads to take away the buffeting, snug the fit, and make them more comfortable.

I will be looking at the C4 soon and my understanding of their quality issues was centered around illegal knockoffs and not the real thing.
