Sena mesh connection

On our trip last week I got the first chance to test my Sena SRL-Mesh with my buddy who has a Schuberth C5 that has built-in Sena mesh system also.

Connecting was easy as pie, sound quality and reach were good and we both liked it a lot.

What I did not like was that the connection was left open most of the time, hence rendering listening to music impossible. I could hear the sounds from inside his helmet pretty much all the time. Sometimes the connection was closed after several minutes for it to just open again a bit later even if neither one of us spoke.

His Schuberth app has some adjustment options and we tried playing with them, but to no avail. Didn't see much as far as adjustments on my Sena app. He did not have issues with the connection being open and his switched to music shortly after neither one spoke.

I'm wondering if it the issue was on my end or his? Is his microphone so sensitive that it picks up even the slightest wind noise and opens the connection towards me? Or is there something going on on my side to make it stay open?

Any ideas from more experienced mesh users? Hopefully Sena users, but any tips and/or tricks are welcome. (y)

I also have the C5 and SC2.

If there is ANY noise Mesh thinks it needs to be open so shuts down music. We have some minor control over this with the sensitivity settings. He will just need to experiment. Honestly, when out with someone for hours and I want to listen to music we just agree to turn off mesh. If we need to get back on mesh we tap the top of the helmet or call the other.

You can alert other mesh users in your group to turn mesh on by tapping your mesh button 3 times. A message will be sent out over the air waves say something like "turn mesh on" there will be a several second delay, after pushing the button 3 times, before they hear the "turn mesh on" command. Then, of course, there will be more delay while they turn their mesh on and it goes through the start up routine.

Thanks, @Prince. Turning it off and using hand signals is exactly what we decided to do (kind of difficult, though, when there are one or two bikes in between at times) since none of the adjustments we tried made much of a difference. IMO, that just kind of defeats the purpose of the whole mesh thing, but oh well... 🤷‍♂️ We'll keep experimenting on our future rides.

But I guess it's comforting to know it's not a problem with just our devices. Would also be good to hear from other brand mesh users if they have similar issues.

The SC2 cannot turn the mic off or on :(
Well, danm it... Was already getting excited based on the instructions @Arizona Jim posted. Thank you, BTW, Jim! Probably those might have been spelled out in the manual if I would've read it. 🤦‍♂️ :ROFLMAO: But good to know. I now have those two memorized. (y)

Now..., if only the SC2 would comply...😤
