As an aside, if you are a veteran in the US, you now have free access to all national parks and monuments. You need to prove it. Where I live, we have an endorsement on our driver's license. I recommend any vet biker who may want to visit federal land to get this—free access, including distributed camping.

I also now keep vet plates for the same reason.

i got a veterans national park card from my local NP office by showing my DD214. i think its purple in color and shows "veteran" status, or something along those lines.
