I don't live in your state but use the "EZ Pass" transponder here on the east coast, I install in on the inside of the windshield and have never had any problems.
These are a little different. As I understand, EZ Pass is a black box. The good2go is more like a film antenma/RFID unit the size of a wide band-aid. And, supposedly as a theft deterrent, it's got self-adhesive backing designed to self-destruct the printed antenna if it is removed. So it's a do-or-die placement decision. I'm wondering why DOT didn't mention windshield placement at all?
Ahh, gotcha. Most likely because some MC's don't have windscreens?
I'll have to defer to someone who is familiar with those. I guess you'd better get it right the first time huh?
Dropped by the good2go office today and thought I'd post what they told me. Best placement is on the windscreen, above the electric lifter arms. They also recommended riding in the center of the lane under the highway scanner.
I don't see any reason why that wouldn't work from an RF perspective. However, mechanically -- if the tape fails and it blows away it's $8.00 to buy a new RFID.
Or....You can do what I do. Ride in the toll lane until you approach the monitoring camera and then move into the regular lanes then back into the toll lanes. ? haven’t got an invoice in the mail yet. GT
