One of the tricks to overcoming the crazy turning radius of choppers (those of us that have ridden real choppers know what that is like)is to have a steering head angle that is not as wild as it looks. They use offset triple trees to allow you to use a super long front end but because your steering head angle does not match the front end angle, your trail is reduced. This allows a much "quicker" turning radius on long front end bike. I believe Kennedy Choppers in the 90's brought this into there builds, thus touching off a resurgence in "chopper" building. The freaking crazy "need a parking lot to turn this thing around" choppers from the mid seventies is really what killed the chopper craze at that time, or chopper riders, which ever. This was not a new idea, as HD had used adjustable triple trees on sidecar rigs, so you could increase or decrease the trail as needed, depending on the sidecar being attached or not. Kennedys just applied it to choppers, pretty f'ing brilliant, actually. Those guys were way ahead of the curve, and really singlehandedly resurrected choppers. Unfortunately then it turn into OCC and West Coast Choppers and all the other Discovery Channel BS. Sorry, guess I'll step off the soap box now.

Ever ride a Sugar Bear style front end, Rik?

This one looks like negative trail... having a hard time trying to imagine how that would handle.
