Leaving on 9-15 for a two week trip through Michigan and up to Niagara Falls and back down through West Virginia.
Any riders up north have any thoughts on Klim mesh jacket with Windstop liner or should I plan on a heavier jacket?

Michigan is a big place, and eill depend a lot on exactly where in Michigan you're going. Further North you go, the colder it could be earlier in the year. Michigan weather is a real crap shoot. I lived the first 24 years of my life in Michigan, and hour and hour you just never know what the day was going to bring. one day is hot and muggy, the next day's cold, the following day's freezing and raining. Sometimes you got all of those in the same day. I'm not kidding. Be ready for anything.

It is usually quite cool in the morning and in the evening. Day time temp is comfortable.

As an example I went to a meeting last night for 6:30. Temp was comfortable 74f. By 9:00pm it was 55f.

I would also be prepared for rain.

I ride everyday and night in Michigan.

My bike has this stuff on it as of a week ago:

Rain gear.
Over-pants.
3 season tour jacket (with liner or hoodie or both).
Rainproof gloves / A gauntlet type glove
If riding when the sun goes down - not a bad idea to have your heated gear with you. Not because you will "need" it but because it will make you a lot more comfortable when you can be.
You could get away with using a full face or modular helmet and retire a half helmet for the season if you are willing to put up with a random day or two of over 70.
Waterproof boots.

All fits in my clutch-side pannier and I add or subtract as needed.

Currently, our long range forecast shows some summer like mid day temps. In September I start using my Klim Latitude jacket and pants. Most early mornings are in the low 60’s.

A heated jacket liner is always a good option if you have the room for it.
Enjoy your ride

Sept is a great month to ride in Michigan! With all my protective gear I would rather a bit cool than hot. As others mentioned, cool evenings and mornings, but most likely 60s and 70s day time. I assume you will be in lower peninsula to cut thru. Yes as mentioned the upper could b bit cooler. Unfortunately you will be a few weeks before start of fall colors. Having said that it is a pain to ride some nice roads on coast with all the "leaf peepers" going so slow. Enjoy your ride.

Michigan Temps

This morning in the U.P. it was a balmy 45 degrees but will warm up to 60's during the day. 9-10 is supposed up in the upper 70"s but evening in the 50's. Always dress for cool this time of year. If you are heading to Niagara Falls, you will probably cross over on the Blue Water Bridge from Port Huron to Sarnia. Good place. I was just down there and their weather is supposed to be mostly in the 60's and 70's all week. Rain is also in the forecast. Better to be a little warm than a little cold. have a nice trip. In Niagara Falls, Ontario, there is a Bed and Breakfast called The Butterfly House. Right on the gorge. Excellent place to stay and the owners are very gracious and friendly. Google it and see if they have any openings. Lots to do around there. Good luck.
Sorry , It is called Butterfly Manor.
