Windshield problem

Hello community.
I do have a problem, that is not new, but happened to me too. I search the forum and I found some interesting answers about the specific problem, but none of them seems to solve it.
When my windshield rises by itself while I'm driving and the switch doesn't respond, I noticed that it starts working when I press the cover of the GPS.
That means that it might be a sensor calibration issue. I found some posts saying that you can fix the sensor but I do not know how to do that.

Is there anyone who have photos showing how to do it?
Thanks a lot.

It's not a "sensor" - it's a microswitch at the bottom of the GPS/Navigation carriage that's obviously not fully activating or has a loose connector.

Remove the windshield and then four screws to lift the GPS carriage to access the microswitch.

See the part in the below eBay ad.

Thanks a lot for your answer. Its a 2017 model.
Something came up and I have to leave on a business trip for a week or more.
I'll look into it as soon as I come back and I'll let you know. I hope it's that micro switch you are mentioning.
Cheers!
here is the microswitch that @1004ron is referring to. When the lever arm gets tired and doesn't depress the switch completely, the windshield raises all the way up.

So very helpful. Thank you very much.
Looking forward to return and fix it! 😊
Hello everyone. Well I've tried. Its impossible to remove the cradle without remove everything else. I mean not only the windscreen, but also the whole housing above the cradle, or even below. I removed the screws from the cradle, but its another cover or something below that, that probably needs to be removed also. There are also two rails that the cradle moves on them and prevent the cradle to come off. Any ideas? I thought it would be easy enough to do that, but its a bmw we're talking about 😊

I'll check when I get home, but worst case is remove the speaker covers and the GPS shroud, then the four bolts holding the cradle - carefully guide the microswitch's wire as you lift the cradle.

Yeah that's what I mean. I think all these are too much for me doing it without guidance for the first time. My previous bike learnt to strip it out in few hours. But someone learnt me how to do it. Anyway, any help will be appreciated.

I'll post the sections from the DVD service manual when I get home and confirm what needs to be removed.

You should get yourself the DVD service manual - do a forum search and you'll find them going on eBay for around $20.

I took a look at it this afternoon and recall that I pulled the two pins on the windshield mechanism allowing it to tilt forward and out of the cradles way - no tools needed for the C-clips, just fingers.

I also took off the two speaker covers which gives access to the screws holding the GPS shroud.

Then the four screws circled in the attached photo, but put rags around the cradle while removing and re-installing the screws in-case they drop.

As you start lifting the cradle take not of the microswitch wire which is held in place with a small pressfit metal clip.

Thank you very much for the help. Well, I almost got there. The pins I think was the problem. I manage to unscrew the four screws without get the speakers cover out of the way. I'll try it out and I'll let you know.
