Whenever I update my iPhone 6 or 7 with a newer version of iOS the BT connection works for a short time only to start the same crap again. Same effect when I connect from a cold start of the iPhone. Bluetooth stack is still buggered up.

iOS 11.2 no change. Hit and miss connection to the car, to Garmin Glo gps only after cold start of the iPhone 7. Can’t test it right now with nav 6 and bike. Maybe apple fixes it until spring, but my hope is limited.

I had iOS 11 Bluetooth connection and pairing issues with my Escort Max 360 radar detector, Escort Live app, iPhone music through a Tune2Air dongle and Garmin Smartlink for my Nav VI set up using an iPhone 6+ and 7+. Most of the issues improved (but weren’t wholly cured) when I switched to an IPhone X, but still had major issues with my radar detector. Escort recently came out with a fix, which seems to work. I haven’t had a chance yet to test the whole system out due to a wait on parts from BMW that has kept my K grounded and snow on the ground; but, I’m hoping that, with the IPhone not having to struggle to pair unsuccessfully with the radar detector, it will deal better with the other components in my Bluetooth stack. Time (and BMW’s slow parts delivery system) will tell.

You should be able to test your Tune2Air in the garage or such. Mine initially worked with my iPhone X, but then would just stop playing even though it was still Bluetooth connected.

I'm beginning to wonder if my bike needs a software update for the audio/Bluetooth side.

Yes, I could test it in the garage or just about anywhere else. The issue is not where; the issue is time. As you pointed out, one of the problems with the IPhone X and Bluetooth is that devices like my Tune2Air initially pair and play, but over time, without warning, just stop playing. It takes some time for that to happen. I don’t see myself hanging in my cold garage waiting To find out if that still happens. Rather, when I am able, I’ll go for a long ride and see how it works in a real world riding situation. Sorry if I was not clear.

My Tune2Air doesn't take very long to stop playing, maybe 5 minutes or less.

I also bought the new BMW iPod adapter with the lightening connector. I have a 7th gen iPod and I get the same stopping of music after a short time, which makes me think a software update for the bike might be needed.

I also have had Bluetooth connectivity issues with both the Nav VI and the Tune2Air since IOS 11 and almost all of it’s subsequent updates. The following is what I have gleaned and copied/pasted from google searches and Apple tech support for a repair sequence for IOS 10 through Current (11.2.1). Steps 1 through 6 are just generic common sense. Since the IOS 11.1.2 update I have been skipping to number 8. Essentially a “wipe & reload” of my Iphone 7. It has worked for me every time since the IOS 11 update. Make sure you backup your device before attempting #8! I backup to both the Cloud and ITunes on my PC. Mostly because I assume the same crack programming team that caused this Bluetooth issue on the IOS devices in the first place had a hand in programming the Restore code. Additionally I delete the pairings on my Iphone and Nav VI before I “Erase all Contents and Settings” and then Restore from the Cloud.

1. Check your Bluetooth on iPhone or iPad and make sure it is turn on.
2. Confirm your iOS device and Bluetooth accessory are close to each other.
3. Turn off Bluetooth and restart your iPhone, iPad and your car.
4. Re-pair the iDevice or car you Connect: Settings > Bluetooth > Choose the device you are having issues with > Tap on the info button next to the device > Tap on Forget This Device.
5. Make sure your Bluetooth accessory is turned on and connected to power or fully charged.
6. Once un-pair the Bluetooth Accessory and then put back in discovery mode, and then make pair and connect again.
7. Reset Network Settings: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
8. Try restoring your iPhone iPad: You can restore your device from iTunes or iCloud. Remember to back up your iPhone because it will wipe existing data.

My setup is pretty simple. I just use BT earbuds paired to the bike. My Iphone is paired first to the Nav VI the then to the Tune2Air. After the above and pairing everything works for me & my equipment. Music from the phone/Tune2Air. Navigation audio and all other traffic & weather stuff from the Nav VI and I can send Garmin Smartphone Link destinations to the Nav VI via the IPhone.

I also did a erase all content and setting restore on my iPhone 7+ due primarily to other issues. I won’t be able to test on bike til the new year, but will report back when I do.

Not surprisingly, the phone is functioning much better. As are BT headsets and headphones. I’m optimistic, but agree with above, this is likely a legacy stack or compilation problem that will only be restored along with your old data if you do a restore option.

Did the complete restore on an iPhone 6+ and on a 7+. No joy. iPhone X set up with the iTunes backup from the 7+ and 8+ phones that had the Bluetooth issues and software updates by Escort Radar and Garmin for the most part cured my bluetooth issues device by device. The jury is still out on my Tune2Air dongle. iPhone X has an updated Bluetooth version not in the 6s or 7s, which may account for why my Bluetooth connections on most of my devices were improved when I switched to this phone without further software updates from device manufacturers. It would seem from my experiences that, until Apple or the companies that make the Bluetooth devices that you are using come out with software updates to fix the mess that iOS 11 created with Bluetooth, some devices won’t pair or function as they did before iOS 11 was installed unless you upgrade your phone to the IPhone X, and, even then, not everything will work as it once didpre-iOS 11. No amount of re-pairing, resetting of network settings or wiping and reinstalling on your phone will cure your post-iOS 11 Bluetooth issues.

@GTLen, exactly my experience. Even in my cars, iOS 11 is a troublemaker with the onboard Bluetooth systems. Unfortunately my company requires Apple hardware and I am tied to it for professional use. For personal use I went back to Android and all issues are gone.
Hope this mess hits apple sales at least a little bit.

11.2 has caused Barb's IPhone 6 to disconnect from everything and also the battery is draining very quickly. Tonight she is installing IOS 11.2.1 hopefully this will cure her problems. My IPhone X is not having problems.

My biggest issue with the new iOS is shortened battery life and it's not consistent. My phone will go from 90% to 10% in 2 hours without use. Turn phone off/on, battery back up to 65%. Really bizarre and never the same issue all the time. Apple really screwed this one up.
