I have a 2016 GTL. I received AIO5 play for bmw and the cgrc can module. I installed both, and I have wonder wheel control of the chigee. My problem is that when using the chigee with the ww, the dashboard menu changes at the same time with every motion of ww. Chigee's page says this about the 2011 to 2021 K series "
  • Simultaneous control occurs only in the Secondary Settings Interface of the BMW instrument cluster.
I'm trying to avoid the simultaneous control, and not sure what the mean by Secondary Settings interface. I have placed a ticket on their web site but have not heard back. Does anyone have the same experience and have resolved it?
The workaround would be to get the chigee remote control, but because handle bar config on the 2016, there is no good way to mount it.

My understanding of "Secondary Setting Interface" is when the settings menu is activated.
That's the only time both Chigee and dash settings are simultaneously visually adjusted.

As a work-around, if I need to adjust settings on the bike's dash, I long press left on the jog-wheel to get out of CarPlay/Android Auto (and into the default dash of Chigee)
The jog-wheel interface does not work in this location.

Once I am finished adjusting any settings on the bike, I exit the bike's settings menu; Long press on the jog-wheel again to cycle back thru to CarPlay/AA on the Chigee.

You don't need the CG Can and the RC - one or the other. I opted for the RC because I didn't want to mess with changing to the the secondary interface while driving. Not perfect but it works fine for my needs. I think I actually prefer it to using the WW for the CHigee.

I'm not sure how you can exit the bike menu. I tried that tonight. I successful at getting back to the chigee home screen by moving the wheel left, and was able to just use the dash menu. When going back to android auto, I can move the wheel left to right, and the dash menu is unaffected. But when but when I turn the wheel, it will affect the dash menu. As an example, when ever I go to amazon music, when selecting a song list, the volume on the stereo gets affected when turning the wheel to select a song or play list. Do you see the same?

Ah yes! I don’t use the radio on the bike. So my menu I always in the “exited” state for me.

your use case will certainly “always be affected” by using the jog wheel when trying to interact with the Chigee.

Same setup here. Just finally figured it out: when I press the Menu button first, BMW is “listening“ to whatever I wheel around to.

Back in the default display, out of the BMW menus, the Chigee responds. Good thing I figured it out, I was about to hammer that remote to oblivion….through the passenger seat.

It’s pretty nifty. Except I can’t use the wonder wheel to pretend I’m selecting missiles or railguns on the traffic in my way. PewPewPew.

Can you be more specific on these points.
When you say press the "Menu button" do you mean the BMW button on the left side handle bar, or the menu button the Chiggee screen?
When you say "default display" do you mean the Chigee default screen, or something on the BWM dash menu?

And if you could post a video of exactly what you're doing, that would be great and much appreciated.

I would think it would work on a 2013 without issue but there is this on Chigee's site

It's about activating a nav data package option on the bike, through the computer at a dealer. But if you have used a bmw nav on the gtl, you should already be set. I also wonder if the bike has to be able to use a nav 5 or 6. Couple questions. Where did you plug the cgrc module into? Do you have a can bus power distribution module? It's my understanding the cgrc can module will not work if you have a can bus connected pdm. Also, did you verify the cgrc was paired with the aio5? You could have received a faulty module.

The AIO-5 BMW and the CAN module should work fine on all GTLs from 2011-2021. The can needs to be wired up properly and the supplied instructions aren't the best. Look on Youtube for a better description. Also, you need to change settings screens in order to use the Wonder Wheel. I opted for the RC module for the latter reason. Less functionality but it's easier to use and I still have access to all the GTL information. But the CAN module does work as advertised.

It's already few months when I tryed Chigee on GTL. I have Nav V and it has always worked OK. I dont have any can bus pdm on GTL. Problem was that cgrc was not recognized by AIO-5. I don't know if problem was with module, bike or user.
I just gave up, returned cgrc to amazon, put Nav V back and moved AIO-5 to R1200GS.
