Hi All,

On my 2011GT I had the left hand switch gear changed two times over five years, this was done under warranty and took about 2 hours to complete each time.

My 2016GT I just had the left hand switch gear changed as the horn button was stuck, however it took 15 minutes to replace.

Have they re designed the connections? Do the more recent models use different switch gears?

Thanks

There is a new p/n that came out some time in 2013. I believe it is the current part number being used. It was redesigned but the install time should be the same.

Can the switchgear be connected at the switchgear end? Thus not having to remove fairing etc to connected to the left side of the engine?

I’ve seen some switchgears for sale that don’t have the pigtail attached, that’s why I’m asking

The early bikes came with a long cable on the switchgear that connected under the fuel tank. I've done that job myself on my '12 GTL, and it took some time to remove the fairing and fuel tank.

Newer bikes have a shorter cable and a connector that's easier to reach without pulling apart half the bike.
