My (cheaper) take on the lighted Roundels

I love the look of the lighted roundels but the cost of the Schrodie kit is a bit pricey for me. Plus I knew it could be done cheaper. I wanted to de-badge the sides anyway but TAKE NOTE!!! There is a hole in the body at the leading edge if the chrome tip for a plastic tip goes through and a nut holds it in place. Luckily the dark color hides it a bit so I am not too concerned about it for now.
First of all, the roundels are 70mm I believe, and the "angel eyes" from
superbrightleds.com are only offered in 60mm and 80mm. LED Angel Eye Headlight Accent Lights - Black Circuit | LED Angel Eyes | Accent Lighting | Super Bright LEDs
I initially ordered the 80mm but found that they were too big to fit in the recess behind the stock location, making the area to be double sided taped to the body a bit smaller than I cared for. So I then ordered the 60mm with the clear dust cover. They are slightly undersized to the badge but I kinda like it.
I also ordered connector plugs so that if I or service had the need to remove the tupperware, it would be simple to disconnect. Iused male/female plugs for this.

Then the question of wiring came up. I have CBDane's amber running light conversion and figured tying into that would make them work the same and they do, after a couple PMs w/ Brent about it. The Schrodie kit has 2 colors and this is only 1 so the right way to wire the ground made the difference. Thanks again Brent.

I love the look, nicely done!

Which highway pegs do you have on your crash bars and are those Wunderlich bars? (tough to tell from the video).

I'd like to get your feedback as I'd like to add pegs to my Wunderlichs but at 6' 1" I'm wondering if I can get them in a place that's useful.

Ilium on Wunerlich bars. I'm 6'2" and finding a good spot was tough. I moved them about 5 times to find a spot High enough so my calf wouldn't rub on the bar or the body too much. They are on the forward vertical pipe just below the bend. I ground down the locator pin inside the mounting clamp most of the way, but left a little nub so it would "lock" on a little.

Thanks, that's helpful!

I forgot to add, I have $30.59 in the angel eyes, dust covers, and plugs and another $8.59 for the Posi taps. Less actually since I only used 4 of the 6 that were in the blister pack. I had a couple pieces of red and black wire in the tool box to use for the piece between the posi tap and the bike side plug.

5000 miles in the 2.5 months I've had it. It gets out. I commute pretty much daily since I got it. I have gotten into the habit of wiping it down every couple days with a damp microfiber towel and drying it off with another one after i blow the dust off. Maybe 10 minutes total.

No, the rings I have are a single loop of LEDs. But they are wired into CBDanes amber running light conversion to work just as the front LED cluster does, on all the time and flash when using the signals.

A single "angel eye" on each side and connect the positive to the #2 wire and negative to the #1 wire after the chip and before the front signal. Hope that's clear enough.

I have the same year and color GTL (8/24/2012 build date) as you but I have chrome strips and K1600 GTL lettering around the roundels. Did you remove the chrome stuff?

Yes, I prefer it with out the badging but you have to remove them to install anyway. Plus you have to cut the chrome plastic piece as well, as it is 1 long piece with the roundel glued to it. NOTE, there is a small plastic tab at the front of the chrome spear with a nut on the back of the fairing. I left it open for now until I think of something to cover it but it's not too noticeable with the dark color.

The roundel lights look good. Hard to tell but it looks like they might be a little brighter than the Schrodies.
I have a 2012 GTL and have de-badged it, as well. I wonder if they've changed the tupperware because I didn't have any holes when I removed the spears.

Must have added it to the 13s. Lucky me. Not sure about the brightness as I have not seen the Schrodie in person, but mine face the fairing. I was hoping for reflection to add to the lumination.
