Uniden has just released 2 new radar detectors that are shaking up the radar detector scene. The R1 and the R3. Main difference between them is that the R3 has GPS which gives you lockouts, among a few other nice features. Both are showing much longer range than the Redline, which is currently the long-range king of windshield mounts. As well as far better filtering to BSM (Blind spot monitoring) from all the new cars/SUV's/semi's. And both are very reasonably priced ($299 and $399). Uniden sent out a few units to the general public for testing and feedback and results have been nothing short of stellar. Also, both have a USB port to allow firmware updates. Both are 100% stealth (undetectable). And they are a nice small size too. If anyone is in the market for a new detector, it seems you can't go wrong with these new units.

I like my Redline, but the K-band (BSM) falsing is awful.

Update: I installed the R1 almost a year ago. Living in Virginia where radar detectors are illegal I don't get to use it much. I've had growing pains getting the Sena SR10, GMRS Kenwood, Sena 30K, iPhone, etc connectivity working seamlessly. Everything would work for awhile and then for no reason go to $hit. I really thought it was an SR10 issue. Finally traced the fault to the output jack on the R1, it was intermittent. I would connect directly to jack with earbuds and it would work fine. Tried different cables between the R1 and SR10, no joy. Well, it WAS the jack on the R1. Luckily I figured this out before the Uniden warranty expired. I returned the unit and they replaced it with a new one. Alls well...
