Now that our plans for the ride with @Damian M and Brendan across America after the TTD have come together, I thought I would start a new thread. It is just a plan and will could change right up to the day of the ride or the weather forecast. Damian is still working with Justin and John on the ride from Virginia to the TTD.

Thanks to @Arizona Jim and @JohnS1955 in working with Damian, Brendan and myself in coordinating all of this plan.

Here is a day by day summary of the ride from the TTD to Los Angeles, CA

Google Map of the route: 2024-05 - Two Aussies across America

My current plan is to ride all the way to Los Angeles, CA with Damian and Brendan. Jim Elliott will join us in Kansas City or in Colorado for the ride to Chino, AZ where we'll meet up with John Parry to guide across Nevada and California to Los Angeles.

Follow our ride here on Spotwalla

If anyone wants to join us for a day or more of the ride, let us know.

I will definitely put the NW Arkansas days in my calendar to see if I'd be able to make a quick trip there from DFW.

Noticed ya'll are taking CO 141 between Gateway and Naturita on your way to Ouray. We did that on the way from Ouray to Grand Junction in 2022 and that section is freaking awesome. If you have time and interest, you should stop and check out the Gateway Auto Museum in Gateway. Pretty cool place. We were the only ones there when we went there.

OOOHHH NO Major Issue Spotted in the LOGO.

The Beatles Album " Abbey Road " has the Fab 4 crossing the road and Paul McCartney with a Cigarette in his hand. Im pretty sure they had to remove that off the Album Cover

Now Im no Paul McCartney , but I would hate to influence any of the Kiddies out there. " Its Not Good To Smoke and It Stunts Ya Growth " remember Uncle Damian told you

The Moki Dugway isn't a bad ride if you go down it. Going up can get your bike into the flashing red heat range. The last time I rode up it I was with 2 friends on Goldwings and a road crew was in the process of grading the gravel portions so pretty loose road bed. On top of that some flat lander was coming down in a car and was taking its half of the road out of the middle. Because I had been up it several times I wasn't intimidated but my buddies weren't happy by the time we got to the top. The good thing about the 4 mile stretch is that the 180 degree corners are blacktopped.

Jim ya got it backwards. I have always went up the Dugway. A little over half way up there’s a pull out on the right side. Andy drove right past it in his video. Park your bike and scramble over a few small rocks and go out on the point. You will be rewarded with grand view of the Valley of the Gods. That much over used word “awesome” just wouldn’t cut it here. No guard rails or anything.

Guys full credit to you guys,I had the pleasure of riding with Damian on New Years day not sure about the overnight shared room with him tho lol :whistle::rolleyes: Anyway he mentioned how amazing you guys have been with helping him and Brendan pull this adventure together along with you amazing guys. You might ride and drive on the incorrect side of the road but the hospitality and friendship you guys have shown to the guys is second top none, thanks you so. much from myself and our membership here. Australia may not have the biggest membership of this fantastic forum, but we are all are close and keep in touch with each other. Rest assure we are all following you from the other side of the world where, the weather it is warm sunny and 100% of the population drives also rides on the correct side of the roads except the drunks and druggies :geek:I for one can not thank you for putting so much into the guys trip to the USA and looking after them while they are visiting , the guys have so much respect from us Australians. ( Well maybe not so much Damian lol ) you will love these guys with hearts bigger than Damians shoes. We all look forward to following the USA trip and adventures that lay ahead with our 2 Australian drunks.

If I don't end up making it to TTD, and not making it is a higher probability than making it, I may try to meet you all in AR for a ride and then make the ride back home to KC. I'm in the south part of town and Steve is in the north part of town, but we do have a spare room if needed. And if anyone needs a tire change I will make myself available. Safe travels all!

I didn't read it within this feedback; the weather here can change and can be dramatic - especially in the mountains. Never let's the weather where you are be the guide for ride planning. Use the localized forecast and then check it.
I have left my house at 20c and faced driving snow at 1000 meters of elevation.

Hi DJ
Yes The Guys over there have warned us of changing weather at this time of year. I’ve purchased heated riding gear just in case . I think I’ve got everything sorted.

Andy has planned the trip across, if we do get held up by weather or something else, we can drop something out to gain a day here or there.
We were going to spend more time in West Virginia Area, but it was cutting time short if we had issues on the crossing, and we wouldn’t have time to enjoy our ride across.

Californian John is going away late May we would have missed him as well.
This plan we do East and West pretty comfortably
3mths TIL we land

How many fellas are expected to be in the group leaving TTD and over towards KCMO? I’m looking at my long range schedule and trying to figure out a plan to join up somewhere with (or w/o) the bride; if not to/at TTD then perhaps at the west TN overnight and thru the AR stretches, then peel off and head back northeast somewhere near SGF when y’all continue to KCMO.

I would have liked to have routed the Aussies further north after leaving Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Unfortunately, time constraints don't permit.

We both live in California -- a wonderous state. It has probably the most diverse landscape in the US, and maybe the world. I want them to see it all. There will be more time in subsequent trips to explore more of the northern part of the state.

This looks good, I thought you were doing Texas up to Canada in the beginning. I will definitely do what I can to ride along as long as I can.

Being off 5-6 months now will be a big part of my financial or work requirements for this. If anything I'll stand on the side of the road and throw rocks at you all as you pass.

I will be seeing @flyergc and probably @Booger Man this weekend at our dealer's chili cookoff. Maybe we can put something together that works for us.

Guys I have to say that the Video where Damian set me up and share with a few of you was not me. Amazing what AI can do, but Iam sure you guys will pull him and Brendan into line when they arrive. Be careful of Damian when his eating as he is big guy and will eat your arm as well as massive stakes lol. See the stake below in the photo on a ride where we rode around the Snowy mountains the stake was massive and Domain ate 2 of them plus desert and about 18 gallons of beer that night lol :unsure: So you guys are in for a treat.
