I just got my SENA 20S Dual Pack on Monday. Did the upgrade on the firmware and everything was OK until I started to pair the system with iPhone, Bike and Navigator V. As we know, the BMW implementation of Bluetooth is not ideal and is based on an OLD spec (2.0 vs 4.0). Have the pleasure to contact the Customer Support and because they are about 1 mile from my house, I ended up going there. Met with Wahyit Cheung, email; wahyit.cheung@sena.com, Tech Support #: (408) 300-9797, (866) 300-1235. Sena customer support is absolutely awesome and Wahyit was a pleasure to deal with. He did acknowledge several issues with the BMW and the 1600. Their engineers in Korea do have access to a 1600 there and I offered to become a Beta tester too. We did spend about 3 hours going over issues and documenting them so that he could follow up with Korea.
I also invited Wahyit to participate on this forum and try to help the community.
The major issue is that the SENA will pair with the 1600 but it will lose the pairing once the Bike and the 20S are turned off. The 1600 does not reestablish the pairing by itself. It thinks it is connected to the 20S but nothing happens. You will have to go partially through the 20S pairing procedure every time you turn the bike on. However, you do not need to actually use the pairing procedure on the bike. The bike wakes up once it sees the request from the SENA and will reestablish the Pairing. It is working with me for 8 times so far.
Another issue is how to pair the different elements. After some trials, we established the following:
Phone to pair using Selective pairing for Phone (HDP only)
Bike to pair using Selective pairing for Music (A2DP)
Navigator to pair using Second Phone Pairing (HDP only)
There are some other kinks and we will be trying to fix them. I will keep you all informed.
