Thanks for this information. I only use it to play Sirius/XM music - never had a low batt issue but loses the connection easily - is this a battery problem? I re-boot it and works fine for a hour - off again. Ideas?

But, I get what you mean (ship’s power, aka bike’s power). Yes, as @Arizona Jim said, charge-while-riding is allowed.

My friend has a Sena 50S where the red charging light turns blue within minutes, even when it's been used all day. However it will then last all day using nav and phone bluetooth. But will only last maybe a half hour when mesh is on. Is this likely to be a battery fault I wonder, or more than that with a mesh circuit fault? I could do the battery for him but not worthwhile if likely to have other issues. Opinions sought.

About 5 years old, and used probably 60 hours a year. It's been bad since nearly new but missed the warranty.

There are 2 models of the Sena 50S. The latter having greatly improved battery life and connectivity. @ 5 years old your's is the original. Three years ago I replaced the battery on both our 50S units; e.g. battery life problem solved.

The newer units have zero battery issues. I run mesh for 15hrs without charging
